The bible
warned of the coming of another, a false prophet who would prepare us
for the end times, and we laughed because we were too old for fairy
stories. We mocked because we were too clever for a book written by
pederasts and sadists to cow peasants and fools when it was we who
were the fools.
Born in Shropshire as a solo dark ambient project, Machinochrist was reborn amid the neon and static of crucible of London to release three EPs, all still available for download, and numerous other compilation appearances and remixes until becoming a force within the breakcore scene, filling dancefloors and perforating eardrums with a hellishly danceable digital assault.
And just when you’re asking exactly how subversive can one man and his laptop be, Machinochrist a free show at the Royal Festival Pier on the south bank of the hepatitis-laden River Thames ended in violence, destruction, police involvement and most of all, pure adrenal joy. Machinochrist’s debut full-length, ‘Escape From Woolwich Arsenal’, released through celebrated independent Anticulture, fuses melody and abrasive sonic torture with results that invigorate the genre like a defibrillator to its emaciated chest.
This is religion for a spiritually empty, chemical age and if that leads you broken into the charcoal embrace of perdition than so be it.
The Machinochrist has risen, offer praise.
